Based in Melbourne, Australia, Byron is a passionate advocate for social and economic inclusion of traditionally marginalised or excluded groups. As a member of the LGBTIQ+ community, Byron has a particular interest in this community and the intersectional experiences with other diverse identities. He currently works as an inclusion policy adviser within the Victorian State Government advocating for and supporting more inclusive policy and program responses to diverse cohorts. He is a member of a Victorian Government department Pride Network committee – an employee-led network increasing awareness of the issues facing LGBTIQ+ staff, and advocating for a safe, diverse and inclusive workplace.
Byron is passionate about representation and inclusion of LGBTIQ+ people of colour in Australia and his reflective piece was recently published by the country’s Special Broadcasting Service (SBS). He is the founder of EveryMinority.com – a site developed as a platform to share the intersectional experiences and stories of LGBTIQ+ POCs in Australia.
